Week 2!!

Two weeks have already passed!  They have flown by! We've managed to get on a better eating schedule this week and that makes for a happier Mommy, baby and therefore Daddy too! :)  We had a Boerne photographer out to the house to take some pics of him on his 2 week b-day, but we won't get to see them for a few weeks!  I can hardly wait!  Of course, last week we had PERFECT skin!  This week we've got the peeling flaky skin that post term babies get and the baby acne that the majority of babies get so we are hoping she knows how to use photoshop!  We also had our 2 week check up with his Dr. and he is healthy as can be!  They like for them to regain their birthweight by 2 weeks and we were successful at that! Born at 8 lbs 7 oz and 21 inches long - at 2 weeks we are now 8 lbs 8 oz and 21 1/2 inches long!

Acheivements this week:
- His hands know exactly where his mouth is! He is using his hands more and more!
- He can hold his head up on his own- which makes burping interesting!
- He is more alert and loves to observe ceiling fans- even though they are off and loves to stare out windows- no matter what room he is in he finds the natural light and stares at it.  Above his changing table hangs his swim shorts for next summer and he loves staring at those too!
- At night after feedings he goes back down a lot easier this week!

The best part:  pics of week 2!!!

Long legs, long feet, long toes! I must be a Mokry!

Mommy thinks I look like her when I get upset! haha!

Mommy loves putting me in these swaddle outfits because they make me look shorter and more like a newborn!

One of my MANY facial expressions! I have lots- Mommy thinks that means I have lots of personality!

Daddy thinnks it's so cool when I show him I know how to use my hands already!

Happy Week 2!

I just have to show off my long everything & toes! :)

Our little glow-worm (that's what we call the swaddle outfits) waiting for a goodnight kiss from Daddy!

Week 1!

We made it through survival week: Week 1!!! Thank goodness we had a lot of family support- Weston and I both had the thought, "hmm.. maybe we just want one kid!!"  We both think that Mason doesn't look identical to either of us but a nice mix of both, but you can be the judge! In just 1 week we've already seen so many changes! He's a very alert baby- none of the nurses could believe how much his eyes were open- of course I wasn't surprised especially knowing that he was more than a week late according to my calculations!  Being so late, we have plenty of hair, long finger nails, and opened blue eyes!!  This week he's actually a very laid back baby which makes Mommy and Daddy VERY happy!!

These are all pictures from his first week of life!!!
Yes- My feet are this big the first week of life!  The Dr. even commented on what large feet and hands I have!
First Day home!

First day home from the hospital- I'm the size of Mr. Bear!

My 1 week B-day! "Do I really have to take these pics Mom!?!"

Yup- 1 week and already bigger than Mr. Bear!

1st day home - Daddy showing me my new room!

That's a scratch from my long nails- not a birth mark! I love my Daddy already!!

41 Weeks!!! Mason James Mokry is here!!

Mason James Mokry
9-12-11
6:32 pm
8 pounds 7 ounces
21 inches long

We are soooooo... in love with this beautiful blessing from God!!  He is healthy as can be and we are so glad to be home from the hospital!  He is so precious and so far we think he has Dad's eyes, lips, long fingers, long toes, long feet and legs!  He's got Mom's nose - no doubt about it.  He's got adorable blonde eye brows and eye lashes with a full head of hair!  (Everyone told me the full head of hair is why I had the acid reflux for 9 months- which by the way completely went away as soon as he was out!) Other than that it's too soon to tell, but he is wonderful!  Thank you for all the prayers, the labor and delivery couldn't have gone better!  Weston actually got to deliver him and cut his umbillical cord!  That was so cool!  The Dr. told him, go wash your hands!  And he pulled Mason out and cut his cord!  The entire experience was amazing and we love him so much!

40 Weeks Comes and Goes!!

So... Mason's due date was Labor Day 9/5 and today is 9/7 and still no Mason!  I had a sono yesterday and met with my Dr.  The sono estimates that he is about 8 pounds and 3 oz!!!  He's already such a big boy!  The lady doing the sono could not believe how long he is!  Which of course doesn't surprise me because I feel him down low and up high (I'm thinking this is also why people say he looks like he has not dropped yet- because although his head has his long legs and feet keep me filled out on top!).  He is in perfect birthing position and they report that the amniotic fluid looks good and he passed the stress test with flying colors.  So they did not schedule an induction until this Sunday evening and then having him on Monday 9/12 (I will be exactly 41 weeks at that point)... of course this is if he doesn't come earlier which I am hoping and praying for!! I'm just SO ready for him to be here and to be done with the birthing process! It really brings me anxiety not knowing how everything is going to end up and work out.

39 Weeks!

So... progress is being made!  At 37 weeks I was a -4 dilated and 0% effaced; at 38 weeks I was a -3 dilated and 0% effaced... I'm now at 39 weeks, and dilated to a 1 (yeah! finally on the positive side) and 25% - 30% effaced.  This is good news to my ears!  I have been sick for the last two weeks and told the Dr. my symptoms... she thinks its bronchitis! Yuck! I'm hoping I'm on the tail end of it since I've already had it for 2 weeks.  I had more contractions today but they didn't continue so no hospital visits yet, I just hope this means he'll be here this week! More news to come as I have it!

Mason's Room!!!

Ok, finally, I'm catching up with my promises of adding pics of the nursery! This is the room BEFORE:  Luckily it was already painted the khaki color, but we wanted to add bead board and a fan before we got all of the furniture in. Below is a picture of Weston in our front drive making the cuts to the bead board, he made the cuts- I did all the painting- it was hard work- but SO worth it once it was complete!

The neighborhood park is right across the street!

At about 30 weeks preggo nerves started to kick in and I told Weston one night... tonight is the night ALL the furniture is going in!  He was a good sport and we got it all put together! Below is all the supplies I had been collecting for the Nautical themed room!  Gunner does not seem to know like some dogs that a baby is on the way... he does know that something serious is going on in this bedroom!  And that for whatever reason whoever is going to be in this room is not sharing their stuffed animals!  He did quickly learn that these are not his "toys"!!!

"But Mom... I just want to taste the toys!! I can share!"

And this is AFTER . . .

I love this rocking chair - Elaine and I were rocked in it as babies- it's been passed down through the generations which makes it even more special!

Thank you Papaw for the gorgeous bedding!!!

In Loving Memory of our Opa

Weston's Opa (grandpa in German) passed away this week.  We luckily went and had a very nice visit with him last Saturday, and had the opportunity to say our good byes this week.  We made sure he knew that Mason would know his great-Opa and how special he was to all of us.  We know he's in a place where his pain is no more.  We did so greatly wish that he would be able to meet Mason and Mason meet him but it just didn't work out that way.  We will be heading up to Fredericksburg tomorrow and Monday for the funeral services.
